Valentine’s Day 2011: I was a brand-new mom with a colicky newborn who hadn’t slept, like, ever. That new baby rocked my world and I remember thinking I absolutely could not wait for a year when my husband and I could get a sitter and celebrate just the two of us, no kids.
But that phase passed, as they all do, and now I can’t imagine a Valentine’s Day without the kids in tow.
Valentine’s Day 2018: I had the pleasure of watching my boys catch their first waves, while my two-year-old daughter cheered them on from the comfort of my lap. After the boys dried off and warmed up, we went out for pizza and ice cream. We came home late, sandy and satisfied, in love with our lives and each other. Best Valentine’s Day ever.
